In fact, It wasn’t even close….
In the above video we visit whoishostingthis.com, as they are one of the most trusted sources for Web Hosting reviews. We observed the same misleading hosting reviews that we discussed in our Previous Blog Entry. Sure enough when clicking on any of the top recommended hosts we were presented with an affiliate code in the URL. This means they get a commission for any customer they recommend to any of their “recommended” hosts. whoishostingthis.com is probably basing their reviews on who pays the most in commission.
We performed a non biased “reverse IP domain check” on 4 WordPress Hosts:
The number of websites hosted on the same server is the best indicator of how fast and how reliable your website will be. I personally feel that no more than 100 – 200 WordPress based websites should be hosted on the same server. WordPress might be one of the most efficient Content Management Systems out there, but it still consumes more resources than the standard HTML based website. If you’re on a host that hosts 1000 or more websites, your WordPress site will be fighting constantly for the resources it needs to function right which will result in slow load time sand constantly sputtering when one of the other 1000 websites hosted on the same server consumed the resources before your site was able to.
Are your neighbors hosting adult content?
Perhaps one of the most disturbing trends we found was that adult content was detected on Siteground, Bluehost, and Web hosting Hub. Adult content sites sites were hosted on the same IP and server as regular websites. HBK Hosting was the only host we reviewed of the 4 that did not allow adult content. Ask yourself do you want your business associated with that? If you answered no, the hosts that allow it are probably not for you. There are several beliefs amongst industry professionals that this can degrade SEO as well as website reputation.
It can’t affect my SEO right?
Several companies have tested this and have found that websites hosted on servers with less accounts per IP ranked better in Search Engines than websites hosted on servers that try to fit thousands of sites on the same IP. If you think about this it makes perfect sense. Google, Yahoo, and Bing are all trying to provide the best experience possible when someone searches for something through their service. It doesn’t exactly scream quality when a search engine can tell you’re using $1.99 a month cheap shared hosting with 1000 or more websites on the same server. If you don’t think your website is quality content, why would any search engine?
Based on the Results…
Based on what we’ve found, if you’re looking for a Fast, Reliable, and Secure WordPress Host, then you should probably look at HBK Hosting. They were the fasted we tested, with an average of between 10 – 20 accounts per IP compared to 1000+. As an added bonus they also did not allow adult content meaning we did not have to worry about our websites reputation. Based on the results, HBK Hosting proved to be the best WordPress Host.
